Ross Purrington's red wooden covered wagon |
In the early years of the 20th century farmer/butcher
Ross Purrington (1880 - 1957) delivered meat and vegetables around the town of Colrain in a horse-drawn red wooden covered wagon. A prized item in the collection of the Colrain Historical Society, that wagon and Purrington will be the subject of a program following the meeting of the Historical Society on Thursday, July 12, in Joan McQuade’s barn across from the Pitt House. Grandsons
Peter and Roger Purrington, who grew up with Ross, will be on hand to share stories.
The
Pitt House situation will be discussed at the meeting at 7:00 p.m., with the program following at 7:30. Both are free and open to the public.
Refreshments will be served. For information call Belden Merims, 624-3453.
